The 2022 China Internet Civilization Conference was launched at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin on Aug 28 and will last till tomorrow.
The conference, a call to use the internet in a civilized manner and clean up the online environment, consists of a main forum, a network integrity summit, 10 sub-forums and an exhibition on China's achievements in "building a better cyberspace in the new era".
Attendees include government departments, companies, organizations and celebrities involved the internet sector. During the conference, they will share ideas and opinions on 10 current internet-related topics, such as how to fight online rumors and how to better protect personal information online.
It is the second time the conference has been organized, with the first being held in Beijing in November last year.
One highlight of the conference will be an exhibition on the progress made in cultivating internet civilization since 2012.
The conference will be co-hosted by the Office of the CCAC, the Central Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress, the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government.
In recent years, China has stepped up efforts to strengthen cyberspace governance. Last year, it launched a two-month campaign targeting those who lure youngsters to spend large amounts of money on celebrities and their products, flaunt their wealth or become involved in mudslinging exchanges with fans of rival performers.
