Print PrintAn ocean-themed post office has opened at the National Maritime Museum of China in Tianjin, with a special themed postal date mark available on its stamps.
The themed post office, jointly created by the museum and China Post Group, is located next to the photo-friendly Song-Yuan Fu Ship.
The interior of the post office is designed with maritime and postal culture in mind, while inspired by the Longshan Culture Eggshell Black Ceramic Cup at the museum, the unique postbox is painted in a combination of "postal green" and "ocean blue" colors.
The post office offers a range of themed postcards and post date marks featuring various museum attractions and collectible commemorative stamps, which proved popular with visitors over the new year holiday. The "Fu Lu Shou Xi" fridge magnets, ocean-themed keychains and stamp notebooks have also attracted the attention of visitors.
The opening of the themed post office serves as a key step in strengthening the strategic partnership, further advancing the integration between culture and tourism. By releasing distinctive stamps, stamp-related products as well as various activities, it could offer visitors abundant experience and services as well as a platform for them to get knowledge of ocean culture.
As an institution to show China's maritime civilization and marine culture, National Maritime Museum of China will continue to innovate the way of spreading ocean culture supported by its various cultural resources inside the museum. And by adding new cultural experience, it can meet more diversified and individual needs of the public.
The opening of the themed post office will further promote China's marine culture, enhance museum education and public awareness of protecting nature and cultural heritage.
In May last year, the museum and Tianjin Post launched a colorful postal machine and commemorative envelope for International Museum Day with an ocean culture theme.
