Print PrintHangu Subdistrict is in the central part of the northern region of Binhai New Area. Formed in September 2013 by integrating of the original Hangu Subdistrict and Datian Town, it is classified as a subdistrict with agricultural involvement. The area is well-connected by several major transportation routes including the Beijing-Shanhaiguan Railway, Tangshan-Tianjin Expressway, Binhai New Area-Baoding Expressway, Tianjin-Ninghe Expressway, National Highway 112, Luhang Highway, and the Jinhan Realignment. Additionally, the Jiyun River flows through the area for 11 kilometers.
Hangu Subdistrict boasts abundant geothermal resources with reserves equivalent to 22.7 million tons of standard coal. Covering an area of 91.82 square kilometers, it has a cultivated land area of 4524.22 mu. The subdistrict governs 10 villages and 13 communities, with a total population of 27,689 households and 67,931 individuals.
The secondary industry is mainly focused on manufacturing, materials and chemicals, salt production, and textile industries. The tertiary industry includes real estate, wholesale and retail trade, and catering.
In the rural areas of Hangu, the main agricultural activities include vegetable and fruit cultivation, as well as aquaculture. Among these, the strawberry industry has flourished over the years, establishing prominent planting bases, primarily located in Damashaogu Village, Xiaomashaogu Village, and Yongfeng Agricultural Park. These bases specialize in cultivating a variety of strawberry types, including Hongyan, Zhangji, and Xingxiang.
The Strawberry Cultural Tourism Festivalis a large-scale traditional event in Hangu Subdistrict that has established a solid foundation for cultural and tourism development while creating the urban brand of "Hangu Strawberry". This festival has promoted the healthy development of efficient andcharacteristic agriculture,represented by facility vegetables and high-end strawberries. Gradually, it has become a local agricultural brand and a new source of income for farmers, driving the transformation of traditional agriculture in Hangu Subdistrict towards ecological and specialized development. The thriving strawberry industryhas revitalized the rural economy,fulfilling the dreams of local farmers for increased income.
