Electricity support ready for Tianjin LNG project

Print PrintLocated in the Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone, the Sinopec Group’s Tianjin liquefied natural gas (LNG) project was recently made operational. The 110 kilovolt electric power system was built to provide electricity support to the LNG project.
With a total investment of 13.6 billion yuan, the project is key to China’s 13th Five-Year Plan as well as an important component of the national clean energy strategy. The design scale of the 110KV transformer substation is 4 x 25 trillion volt amperes, sufficient for power support for the project.
To solve the problem of gas shortages in North China, the National Development and Reform Commission determined that the Tianjin LNG project must produce natural gas before February 14. The power sector therefore closely cooperated with relevant departments to complete the electricity supply construction in eight days.
The Tianjin LNG project will not only meet Tianjin’s demand for gas, but also improve the gas supply pattern of Tianjin and the Bohai Rim area, which will help optimize the energy structure of that area and enhance steady and safe gas supply for Beijing and Tianjin. A safe and steady electricity supply is a solid guarantee of success for the LNG project operation and development.
