The north section of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Digital Science and Technology Industrial Park started construction on Feb 19 in Wuqing district, Tianjin, led by China Unicom. Spanning 54 acres, the industrial park is designed to provide a basic power capacity of 145 megawatts and support an IT load of 100 megawatts.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key collaborators, including Baidu, JD.com, Sina, Tencent, and Huawei. Located just 50 kilometers from Beijing’s city center, the park is poised to bolster coordinated economic development across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, injecting significant momentum into the area’s digital economy.
The launch of the north section marks a pivotal milestone in the overall construction of the industrial park. Upon completion, the facility is expected to deliver high-performance computing power to critical sectors such as education, healthcare, financial services, intelligent manufacturing, and smart city initiatives, significantly enhancing the park’s computing capacity.
This project not only underscores the park’s strategic importance but also highlights China Unicom’s unwavering commitment to advancing its strategic goals in the digital era.
Li Ning, director of the China Unicom Tianjin Branch Data Computing Center, said that “The South Zone of the park is already operational and has attracted a number of financial, technology, and internet companies from Beijing and Tianjin, as well as scientific research units."
"With its robust computing capacity, the park can monitor and analyze real-time water quality and environmental data, promoting ecological protection and sustainable development. Additionally, it can reduce equipment failure rates and optimize workload management,” he added.
The construction of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Digital Science and Technology Industrial Park is a key driver for both regional development and national prosperity in the digital era. By fostering innovation and technological advancement, the park aims to solidify the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area’s position as a hub for digital transformation and economic growth.
