A video of a physically fit 79-year-old woman recently went viral.
Tianjin resident Bai Jinyin, popularly known as Grandma Bai, has achieved widespread applause for her athletic figure, impressive skills and inspiring remarks.
She spends several hours at a fitness center five times per week, practicing yoga, Pilates and weight lifting.
"Deep down in my bones, I feel that I will never succumb to fate," she said. "I have always been the strong one in life."
Bai began working out in 2005 because she'd undergone three surgeries. She felt that her health wasn't what it should be.
Since then, she has learned much about the importance of a healthy human body.
During an interview with Tianjin International Communication Center, she said: "I'm at the age when people get sick. The disease of time surrounds you. If you want to avoid falling ill, you have to fight against it; you can't just sit and wait for death."
She explained that people should pay attention to their strength and flexibility regardless of age.
In addition to her strength and flexibility routine, Bai frequently trains in aerobic and anaerobic exercises.
"I feel that people who work out are full of confidence," she said. "I always feel I'm at my best."
