As a pivotal shipping outlet for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, located on the coast of the Bohai Sea, Tianjin Port has actively seized the development opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative.

Tianjin Port is a pivotal point where land and sea converge for the Belt and Road Initiative, a crucial node along the New Eurasian Land Bridge Economic Corridor, and a globally connected international gateway.

It has six main port areas, and boasts a deep-water harbor with terminals capable of handling vessels of up to 300,000 tons. It has ranked among the world's top ten ports for multiple years in a row.

Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed in 2013, Tianjin Port Group has been proactively driving port logistics and economic and trade activities. It strives to advance maritime links in various international economic cooperation corridors, including the New Eurasian Land Bridge, the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, China-Central Asia-West Asia, and the China-Indochina Peninsula.

Over the past decade, Tianjin Port has witnessed substantial growth, with its annual container throughput increasing from 13 million TEUs to 21 million TEUs.

To date, it has connections to over 500 ports in some 180 countries and regions and has driven synergistic growth to create a world-leading port cluster in the area.

Among these connections, there are 144 container shipping routes, including 64 routes related to the Belt and Road Initiative. Furthermore, over 60 percent of foreign trade goods are sourced from countries along the Belt and Road.

In 2022, Tianjin Port Group saw its cargo throughput reach 470 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.8 percent, and its container throughput top 21 million TEUs, up 3.7 percent year-on-year. Tianjin Port has facilitated the import and export of goods for Belt and Road Initiative countries, reaching 121 million tons, a 13.6 percent year-on-year increase.

In the first three quarters, Tianjin Port dispatched 512 China-Europe freight trains, hauling 55,400 containers filled with goods, including machinery, textiles, daily goods and automobiles.
