The launching ceremony of the second "Tianjin in the Eyes of Friendly Foreigners”photo contest was held in Tianjin on April 25.
Expats are invited to share their photos of Tianjin showcasing the city’s high-quality development, high-level reform and opening-up, high-efficiency governance, high quality of life and "Tianjin Ten Actions."
Entries are being accepted between April to September. During the period, expats will be invited to visit Tianjin's cultural and tourism spots, industrial parks, green ecological buildings, and rural areas to experience Tianjin’s development. There will also be seminars and other activities.
The competition is co-hosted by Tianjin People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and China Daily Tianjin, supported by the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, Tianjin Agriculture and Rural Affairs Commission, Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Heping District People’s Government, and Tianjin’s Economic Radio, and jointly undertaken by Tianjin Culture & Tourism Photography Association, Tianjin Urban Internationalization Research Center, and Tianjin Foreign Service Co., Ltd.

Themes of Entries
The works should be focused on Tianjin’s high-quality development, high-level reform and opening up, efficient urban governance, and quality life in Tianjin, publicize Tianjin’s "Ten Actions", and showcase Tianjin’s new appearance in urban and rural development, achievements in science and educational development, highlights in port-industry-city integrated development, the city’s green ecological landscape, and happy lives of Tianjin people.
Eligibility of Contestants
Foreign friends from all sectors of society are invited to enter the competition.
Photography Equipment
Cameras, mobile phones, and other photographic equipment are all acceptable.
Requirements for Entries
1. For single photos, the size of each one should be no less than 3 Mb; for groups of photos, each group should include 3-6 photos, with the size of each photo being no less than 3 Mb; each participant is allowed to submit fewer than six photos or fewer than three groups of photos;
2. Participants may post-process their entries appropriately without distortion. We do not accept computer creative entries or entries that modify the original image.
3. Entries must be taken by the participants themselves. The copyright belongs to the photographer.
4. Entries shall conform to the themes of the competition, while not contradicting laws and regulations, and containing advertisements. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. In case of disputes over intellectual property rights, reputation, privacy, portrait rights, etc., the contributor will be disqualified and bear all legal responsibilities.
5. The hosting organizations have the right to use the award-winning works (for public welfare exhibitions, printed publicity materials, and publicity and promotion activities, and so on), including making necessary modifications in the using process.
Submission Method
1. Participants should send electronic versions of their entries in JPEG format to the designated email address of the competition at 1299062008@qq.com;
2. Participants should fill in a registration form (see attachment), which includes the author’s name, nationality, working unit, occupation, and contact information, the entry’s name, when and where it was taken, and the electronic version of the scanned copy of the participant’s personal identity certificate (or passport, etc.);
3. An entry should be accompanied by an introduction to the entry within 100 Chinese characters or English words, which should briefly introduce the entry’s theme, content, implied meaning, and the story behind;
4. Deadline for submission: September 30, 2023
5. This competition is a public service activity; no entry or judging fees will be charged, and no entry will be returned.
Selection of Entries
The hosting organizations and undertakers of the competition will organize professionals to form an expert review team, which will pick out the best ones that meet the award-winning requirements of this competition through several rounds of selection according to the principle of "openness, impartiality, and fairness". Winners will receive corresponding prizes and honorary certificates, and their works will be displayed at relevant photographic exhibitions.
For outstanding organization units, the hosting organizations will issue the "Outstanding Organization Award" honorary certificates.
