Over the past few years, Baodi, a district of North China's Tianjin city, has intensified its efforts to undertake the non-essential functions of Beijing as a capital city, and has fully leveraged preferential policies to attract more talents and support local enterprises in their development.

Baodi has focused its investment promotion and industrial development on high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy and materials, new-generation information technology, bio-medicine, pharmaceutical facilities, and modern services to further bolster its overall competitive strength.

Baodi has attracted the settlement of over 160 projects worth about 60 billion yuan ($ 8.7 billion) from Beijing over the past five years.

Since 2017, Baodi has partnered with Zhongguancun Development Group in the building of the Beijing-Tianjin Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, which is designed to make full use of the separate strengths of both Zhongguancun and Baodi in bridging the fine industrial resources of Beijing and Tianjin, and has become an important platform to attract high-quality projects.

The Beijing-Tianjin Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park covers an area of 14.5 square kilometers. To date, its first phase has seen the completion of the building of infrastructural facilities and the second phase has started construction. It has drawn registration of 1,100 market entities and the settlement of over 100 projects worth roughly 17 billion yuan.

Early in 2019, Baodi signed eight specific cooperative deals with Tongzhou of Beijing and Tangshan of Hebei on the development of ecological, scientific and technological, cultural tourism and human resources sectors.

Meanwhile, Baodi has made the utmost effort to build a modern transport network in alignment with the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in the transport sector. Thanks to the completion of the Beijing-Tangshan and Beijing-Binhai intercity high-speed railways, the district has become better connected with the two municipalities.

In addition, Baodi has further strengthened its efforts in ecological conservation, made great strides in the improvement of its air and water quality, and become a national demonstration area for the building of ecological civilization.

In 2022, Baodi saw 259 days of good air quality, standing at 71% of the whole year.
