The 1st Tianjin Music Festival will open in the coastal metropolis from May to July. It will be a banquet of incredible music, with performances from the Tianjin Grand Theater, Tianjin Song and Dance Theater, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, and the Tianjin Juilliard School.
The music festival will consist of four parts. The Tianjin Conservatory of Music will provide a warm up for the event, organizing Chinese folk opera, classic works, and orchestras from April 21 to May 9.
Wang Hongwei, deputy head of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music, said the school is preparing for performances and that 17 masters will be invited to give lectures. He hopes the music festival will become a new city card of Tianjin.
The festival will be unveiled on May 25 with the attendance of household artists and singers giving live performances.
On July 2, the China Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a closing concert. The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra of Austria and other famous overseas groups will bring audiences long-awaited world-class performances.
Cultural activities, including concerts, lectures and chamber music, will also be arranged to benefit the public at the community level.
Tianjin will also hold competitions and games, attracting musicians from across China to perform in the city.
