Tianjin will persist with manufacturing and high-tech to spur economic growth.
Li Hongzhong, the city's Party chief, made the remark while joined by the city’s political advisory body to together map the high-quality development of the northern port city this year during the ongoing Tianjin local two sessions.
Tianjin will persist with the manufacturing sector as a major economic driver, vigorously developing strategic emerging industries such as intelligent technology and the innovation of information technology industries, and will work to enhance the core competitiveness of these industries.
Members from the fifth session of the 14th CPPCC Tianjin Municipal Committee gathered at the session presided over by the committee’s chairman, Sheng Maolin.
They have made proposals across various fields ranging from boosting the real economy, financial services, the digital upgrade of industries, low-carbon development, and new energy industries in a bid to build the world’s first-class new materials base.
Li spoke highly of their advice when promoting the social and economic development of the city last year; especially in curbing the spread of the pandemic.
He said the municipal government would carefully study the proposals which are of great pragmatic value and use them to guide work.
Tianjin has fully implemented the philosophies of innovation, coordination, openness, being green, and sharing while advancing social and economic development. It reported a 6.6 percent year-on-year GDP increase in 2021.
For this year, Li said that the city will deepen mechanical and systematic reform, giving full play to the capital and financial means, and providing a better business environment.
In terms of adhering to green and high-quality development, the city will further boost "twin towns"-namely the downtown and the coastal town area of the Binhai New Area as well as the green barrier building.
All the development results are to be shared by all people, will adhere to a people-centered approach, and solidly promote common prosperity. Furthermore, the city will meticulously implement 20 livelihood projects.
