A panda arrives at Binhai International Airport on May 28.

Two pandas, one female and one male, have arrived at their new Tianjin home - Elion EIF's Park in Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, Binhai New Area - from their former accommodation in Chengdu, Sichuan province.

The female panda, Xiao Qiao, named after a famous beauty of ancient China, has larger eyes, while the male one, Xiao Chuang, is good at climbing trees and has been hailed as a ‘gymnast panda’.

“The park’s temperature and humidity are adjusted according to their natural living conditions, and the facilities here are of first-class in the country,” said Cui Jiangtao, the panda keeper.

The "Panda Mansion" built in the park covers a construction area of 2,650 square meters. The roof is made of glass to ensure they have access to sunshine while indoors. Toys including swings, tires, bridges are abundant, and central air-conditioning, spray equipment, a kitchen, monitoring room, medical room, warehouse, and cold storage are available.

The two pandas will meet visitors after they are believed to have found the new environment agreeable.

In addition to the pandas, there are also 100 other species in the park, including monkeys and giraffes. In a bid to serve as an ecological tourist area for families to experience and learn environmental knowledge and keep in harmony with nature, the park provides about a hundred interactive spots for visitors.

Talk shows and indoor theaters are also included to enrich the park, as well as leisure activities like shopping, sightseeing, and playing.

The park is invested in by Elion Resources Group, a Beijing-based ecological company committed to ecological restoration and providing an integrated solution for urban ecological residential environments.

Wang Wenbiao, president of Elion Group, said: "I came here four years ago, it was a barren desert. After hard work and great efforts, it has become an ecological haven. This is the power of ecology."

Over 500 architectural and environmental experts have been involved in the construction of the park over the past three years.

As a flagship cooperative project between the Singapore and China governments, the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City has been focusing on the application of ecological technology and the promotion of green lifestyles since the start of its development, to enhance environmental protection and build a model of sustainable urban development for people.
