Situated at the intersection of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province, Jizhou district is considered to be the ecological reserve area of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei's coordinated development.

The district has 920,000 permanent residents and boasts nature in abundance.

It also has an illustrious history stretching back to the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) and a swag of millennium-old historical tourist attractions -- including the Dule Temple, the Huangyaguan Section of the Great Wall, as well as Panshan.

As a result of concerted local government efforts to preserve its environment, notable achievements have been made.  

The green coverage is currently 53.5 percent of the district's total area and in particular the north forest area, which accounts for 81 percent of that, has an estimated 378 species of native fauna.

Jizhou has also put great efforts into water conservation and constructed the Yuqiao Reservoir which is capable of storing 1.559 billion cubic meters of water.

Air quality has also greatly improved. Last year, it ranked the cleanest in Tianjin. During the first eight months of this year, Jizhou retained top place.

To boost tourism, 80 environment-friendly investment projects have been introduced with funding of 90 billion yuan ($12.65 billion). 

In 2018, the district hosted 26.6 million tourists from all over the world, generating 2.84 billion yuan in revenue and income of 14.2 billion yuan.  

Rural tourism also had outstanding results, creating 60,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly, at more than 20 tourist attractions.

Xijingyu Valley was recognized as one of China's prestigious valleys with a long history and more than 100,000 tourists visit Sungezhuang Manchu ethnic town every year.

Jizhou has also had a dynamic impact on transportation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei's coordinated area.

More transportation projects are on the drawing boards  including an expressway, bus routes and inter-city high-speed rail, making it easier for people to commute between Beijing and Jizhou.  

Expanding agricultural development and rural revitalization has yielded results with the local government.

At present, Jizhou has some 115.3 square kilometers of farms producing 150 kinds of organic foods. 

Officials said that since 2018, the district has approved 496 million yuan in investments in 21 projects for developing  primary, secondary and tertiary industries in the countryside.
