The 10th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 7th National Special Olympic Games came to an end on Sunday in North China's Tianjin municipality.
The event, held between August 25 and September 1, marked the first time that the two Games were held in the same city as the National Games of China.
The sports gala features 43 events, 33 held in Tianjin, 25 for the Games for Persons with Disabilities and eight for the Special Olympic Games.
A total of 6,121 athletes from 35 delegations across the country have participated, the largest number ever. And 35 new world records and 124 national records were set during the Games.
Zhou Changkui, executive director of the organizing committee, said at the closing ceremony that the Games, with the theme of "Our Dream, Our Happiness," has embodied the Paralympic spirit in the New Era, especially given that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The next national Paralympic Games will be held in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The handover ceremony was held after Tianjin mayor Zhang Guoqing declared the Games closed.
