Yuan Guangrui, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress, director of the Tianjin Finance Bureau, confirmed that Tianjin will continue working towards improving living standards.
In 2019, Tianjin will devote energy in targeted poverty alleviation, promoting industrial development, science and technology education, financial services, infrastructure construction and other fields in a push to increase farmers' earning.
"Last year, 77 percent of Tianjin's financial resources were used to improve people's livelihood, 17 practical measures to promote higher quality employment, 20 public welfare projects were completed comprehensively, special funds were established for supporting impoverished areas, and 148,000 low-income elderly people received free physical examination," said Yuan.
On the basis of last year's efforts, Tianjin will steadily improve elderly care, kindergarten construction, teacher's welfare, public health service, and housing in 2019.
Tianjin also showed great determination in government work report to combat air pollution, preserve wetlands and vigorously promote green development, which is an essential part of livelihood.
